Occupational Therapy

The role of an Occupational Therapist at Bethany Home has many aspects, such as giving the students individual treatments, supporting the teachers, and when needed home visitations. Communication with the family of the child is a necessary part, not to be forgotten.

Play is an important tool for teaching. In a game the body becomes more functional and the child has more opportunity to use their body in new ways without expectation of producing something.

The Occupational Therapist uses practical activities as exercise, such as cooking, woodwork and gardening. It can be helpful to use the swimming pool for various purposes e.g. communication and balance. In Occupational Therapy there are no limits as to how a child can be trained. It is just a question of imagination.
